"Humble Beginnings"

OUR HISTORY

Established in 1959 as the second course in Sarasota County, Lake Venice Golf Club is a semi-private 27-hole golf club perfectly situated adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico. This local favorite features a full practice area with a driving range, multiple putting and chipping greens, and a casual bar and restaurant overlooking the 18 the hole that is a favorite for locals and visitors alike—a great place to watch the action on the final hole.

Lake Venice boasts a unique format of ‘no tee times necessary or accepted’, 7 days a week. Whenever you get the urge to play, all you have to do is show up to enjoy the pleasure of experiencing Lake Venice’s serene and natural beauty and playing unspoiled golf without a house in sight—the way golf is supposed to be played. Choose to walk or choose to ride in one of our new state-of-the-art lithium golf carts, GPS compatible and fully equipped with USB ports to use and charge your electronic devices.

In 1966-67 Lake Venice Golf Club was proud to sponsor a sanctioned LPGA Event which included future Hall of Fame members Mickey Wright, Kathy Whitworth, and Carol Mann, and many more members of the LPGA. The soaring popularity of the course prompted the addition of 9 holes in 1970, subsequently redesigned in 2013. Today we host active men’s and lady’s leagues, local charity tournaments, and group league play, all of which benefit from the most reasonable rates in Venice.

We invite you to take the first possible opportunity to experience the welcoming service provided by our quality and knowledgeable staff and to discover every facet of Lake Venice’s hidden jewel at the island’s end!
